The first activity of our last period will consist in creating a video of Japan using movie maker. ·         Explain:
·         Where is Japan
·         What Happened there
·         What is a Tsunami
·         What is an Earthquake
·         What is a nuclear explosion
·         How can radiation occur
·         What can we do to help Japan
·         Personal opinion of what is happening there.

Use at least 20 pictures; include a song and at least 3 min video.
Save it as Japan video in your 5th period folder.

Steps for Movie Maker

Open Windows Movie Maker from "All Programs" on the Start menu.
Click on the "Tasks" button on the top to open the "Movie Tasks" bar on the left.
Make sure the program is in timeline mode. You should see a place below for Video, Audio/Music, and Title Overlay. If you see a horizontal line of boxes, press Ctrl+T
Under the "Capture Video" category, click "Import video" to start uploading video files to Windows Movie Maker
Browse for and select the files that you want to include in your video.
Drag the first video you want into the "Video" area of the timeline at the bottom of the screen
To cut a video file into two pieces, play the video file and pause it at the place you want to cut it. Then, click the "Split" button below the video playing area, or press Ctrl+L. You can do this either in the timeline or in the "Collections" area.
To upload picture files, such as for a slideshow, click "Import pictures" and follow the same procedure. To reduce or increase the length of time a picture plays, drag the ends of the picture file in the timeline
To add a music or other sound file, click "Import audio or music". Drag it to the "Audio/Music" area of the timeline
To add an effect to a picture or video file, such as grayscale, film age, fade in, speed up, etc., right click the file in the timeline and click "Add Video Effect". You can also click "View Video Effects" in the sidebar under "Edit Movie" and drag an effect onto the desired file in the timeline.

Period 3: Create A Magazine using Microsoft Publisher

Create a magazine of at least 14 pages, include: cover page, comercials, index, information and a nice presentation. Save as magazine in 3rd period folder.

Steps:
Getting started
· Go to File, click New, click Catalogs, and choose which ever design you want.

Cover Page
Things you might want to include:
1. Go to format and click on background. Then click on the background you want.
2. Click on insert and find insert text box. Then adjust the text box to what you want and insert your Title.
3. Insert new text box and type in your name.
4. Graphic displays; to insert pictures you must click on the Insert section at the top of the page. Click insert picture. Then either go to clip art or from file. Choose the picture that you want
5. Article previews; after inserting a text box, fill in the information included in the magazine.
6. Insert another text box and type in the date of publication

Insert text box

· Number the list
· On each number put the page of the article that is on that page in order (page 1- Title of Page.)
Inside of the magazine
· Go through and add and/or delete anything you want
· Insert pictures of your topic of the magazine
· To insert extra items like horoscopes, quizzes, or puzzles import files using insert-pictures from file
· To insert a quiz, type in your question and leave space for an answer
· To insert a puzzle, go to the side bar and click text box;create a text box so that it is the second option on the side bar
Information Articles
· To make an informational article, you must give information on one specific topic
· I or you cannot be used because it shows an opinion
Persuasive Articles
· Make sure you stay on one side of the argument. You don't want to give details on both sides of the topic
· Make sure there is at least three reasons to support your topic and a conclusion - the more reasons you have the more believable your argument is.
Quotes are also good for establishing a well rounded and believable. Try to get quotes on college professors and leaders to obtain the best effect

Entertaining Articles
· The articles can be about anything, but make sure they are related to your topic in some way or form
How to add a page
· Go to the menu bar at the top of the page.
· Click insert
· Then click on insert page
· A menu will come asking you where you want to insert a page and how many pages you want
